As we reach the beginning of the 2025/2026 season, I wanted to send out a note to our membership to introduce myself as the new Chief Executive Officer of basketballscotland. My name is David Fallon, and I’m delighted to be leading an organisation and sport that has a great reputation for delivery, and has tremendous potential for growth and impact.
I’ve had a varied, 13-year career working in major event delivery and sport development, having worked previously as the Head of Development with Scottish Squash, and most recently as the Head of Development with scottishathletics. I’ve also enjoyed a 20-year career playing American Football in Scotland for the Glasgow Tigers, West Coast Trojans, and finally with the East Kilbride Pirates.
As I’m sure our members will be aware, it’s been a period of significant change and transition at basketballscotland, with Kevin Pringle, Barry Lang, Colin Gregor, and Tina Gordon all moving on from the organisation over the last 6 months. I’d like to thank each of them for their dedication and contribution to the sport over the last decade, and beyond.
I’d also like to thank the remaining team at basketballscotland for stepping up, working tirelessly to ensure that the sport remained supported, our season remained on track, and the organisation remained operational during such a difficult and challenging time.
To bring stability and expertise to basketballscotland in the short-term, I’m delighted to welcome some interim members to the staff team:
- Kieron Achara, former Scotland captain and Consultant Technical Lead at British Basketball Federation
 - Simon Turner, coach at Blaze Basketball Club and Director at British Basketball Federation
 - Garry McKay, former Interim CEO and Chief Operating Officer at Scottish Squash

I’m extremely grateful to Kieron, Simon, and Garry for agreeing to support the organisation so reactively, and with the passion and energy that they’ve shown so far.
Now, as we reach the beginning of the season, I’d like to wish all our clubs, coaches, and players, across our national, regional, and local competitions the best of luck for the coming season.
I’d also like to thank all the club committee members, volunteers, parents and our dedicated officials, for all the work they do that allows our season to take place - roles that often don’t get the recognition they deserve.
I look forward to meeting the wider basketball community throughout the season, and once we return the organisation to capacity and stability, I’ll be making the effort to get out and meet our clubs, members, and regional associations.
Good luck to all, and I’ll see you courtside soon.
David Fallon
Chief Executive Officer
