The Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 introduced the PVG Scheme for those in regulated work with children and / or protected adults.
Disclosure Scotland holds a list of all individuals who are barred from carrying out regulated work with children and/or protected adults.
Each club is responsible for ensuring all persons (paid or voluntary) who work with vulnerable groups – children and / or adults at risk – are suitable to do so. Anyone undertaking such work (known as regulated work) is required to become a member of the PVG Scheme with that membership linked to the club.
Affiliated clubs with anyone in regulated work may access PVG Scheme Memberships via basketballscotland and a Suitability Decision Agreement must be in place before applications can be processed.
Suitability Decision Agreement Form available here
The form should be completed by the person at the club who will be responsible for PVG applications and disclosure information (Contact Person).
If the Contact Person changes or any amendments need to be made, a new Agreement form must be completed and submitted to basketballscotland.
In addition the club is required to have the following policies:
- Barring & Listing Policy
- Secure Handling of Disclosure Information Policy
- Referrals Policy
- Recruiting with Convictions with Self Disclosure Policy
- Please email pvg@basketball.scot for templates
