Hall of Fame | Eligibility & Categories

ELIGIBILITY

Candidates must meet at least one of the following requirements to be eligible for enshrinement into the Scottish Basketball Hall of Fame:

  • Born in Scotland, AND/OR
  • Made their distinguished contribution to the game of basketball in Scotland

CATEGORIES

Subject to the above eligibility criteria, any person who has exhibited a record of excellence in the following categories can be considered for enshrinement into the Scottish Basketball Hall of Fame:

PLAYERS
Individuals who have achieved outstanding success nationally and/or internationally as a player at a senior level. Must be retired from playing status at their highest level for 5 years before they are eligible for nomination. Voting will be based on the player’s record, honours, ability, integrity, and contribution to the teams on which they participated. Their overall contribution to the game of basketball in general will also be considered.

COACHES
Individuals who have achieved outstanding success nationally and/or internationally as a coach at a senior or youth level. Must be retired from coaching at their highest level for 5 years before they are eligible for nomination. Voting will be based on the coach’s record, honours, expertise, integrity, and contribution to the teams they coached. Their overall contribution to the game of basketball in general will also be considered.

OFFICIALS
Individuals who have exhibited outstanding skill and expertise as a referee, evidenced by their regular appointment at national and/or international FIBA events. Must have been an active FIBA Official for a minimum of 4 years and have contributed to the development of officiating within Scotland.

CONTRIBUTORS
Individuals who have made a significant contribution to the game of basketball in Scotland over an extended period. What constitutes a "significant contribution" shall be determined by the SBHOF and the Selection Committee on a case-by-case basis.
