Safeguarding - Wellbeing and Protection Policies
basketballscotland is fully committed to a rights-based approach. To this end, basketballscotland recognise and implement the general principals of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, the UNCRC (Incorporation) Scotland Act (2024) and principles from the National Guidance on Child Protection in Scotland (2001, updated 2003) and Getting it Right for Every Child for our Child and Young Person Wellbeing and Protection Policy, and the UN Convention on Human Rights, the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and principles from the Adult Support (Scotland) Act 2007, for our Adult Wellbeing and Protection Policy. Both policies also align with the principles of Children First and sportscotland safeguarding standards.
basketballscotland believe that promoting the wellbeing and protection of children, young people and adults, is everybody’s responsibility, and, as such, staff and volunteers will work together to embrace difference and diversity; take action; be responsible; take account for the wellbeing and protection of children, young people and adults; and respect the rights of all persons within our sport.
